Marsha is the owner and head trainer at Benchmark Dog Training, she has many years under her belt working with dogs. She does boutique boarding at her home  which sits on 20 acres in the Sierra Nevada Mountains between Auburn and Placerville.  To her it’s the perfect location to offer dogs a home away from home while their owners are away with all of the space needed to keep the dogs happy and stress free.  She prides herself on taking care of all dogs that come to stay like her own! Marsha decided that she wanted to offer more to people than just boarding.  “so many people struggle with their pet dogs and its doesn’t have to be that way”  She decided to do a intensive training and mentorship program which follows the Micheal Ellis Training Methods in 2022 to add to her skills and increase knowledge so that she could also offer training for dogs and their humans along with her boarding services. She has been fortunate to have mentors from some of the top working dog competitors from around the nation and Germany. In addition she regularly attends seminars and workshops focusing on Obedience, Tracking and protection work.

Marsha believes in balanced training; being positive and making sure the dogs are clear of what is expected of them while making it fun for them to learn.  “It’s so satisfying to see how much happier the dogs are when they know the rules and boundaries.” Of course this makes their owners thrilled!

Marsha has never been without dogs and currently has 2 German Shepards her 9 year old boy Eamon who was a rescue and Cretl her 4 year old female. She’s exited to be getting a new puppy at the end of the year which she will train for IGP dog sport .  She spends a lot of her free time working with her female Cretl training and competing in the sport of IGP formerly known as Schultzhund and loves it. She also loves hiking, kayaking and paddle boarding with her grandson and dogs.
